Standard Installation
Throughout this website we have published From Prices. This is to give you an idea of the installation costs after the OLEV grant has been deducted. These prices are based on a ‘Standard Installation’ in order to make comparing the charge points easier. Our standard installation is suitable for the majority of uk homes. Also we have tried where possible to use the same criteria that other installers are using to help make it easier for you as a customer to decide which charge point best fits your budget.
Whats included.
- Fitting of your chosen chargepoint on a brick or plaster wall, or to another suitable permanent structure.
- Up to 10 metres of cable, run and neatly clipped to the wall between the electricity supply meter / distribution board and the chargepoint.
- We can fix the cable up to 1.8 metres (6 feet) above the ground. If fixing higher than this is unavoidable then we price this accordingly.
- Routing of the cable through a drilled hole in a wall up to 500mm (20 inches) thick, if this is needed.
- The fitting and testing of electrical connections and protections required for the Pod Point.
- An additional three way consumer unit, if required.
- Installation of a Type C MCB and a Type A RCD in an RCBO enclosure.
Whats not included
- Installing the cable under floorboards or through ducting / ceiling voids / wall voids. Additionally we can’t take responsibility for reinstating flooring or other building materials after the cable has been laid however we will do our best to relay carpets.
- Trench the cable underground or suspend it above ground.
- The installation of an earth rod if required.
- Trunking or conduit to enclose the cable.
- 100amp junction blocks with tails at the meter or distribution board
Some conditions and limitations that you need to know:
- The chargepoint must be located in your designated off-street parking area and be fixed at a height where it can’t be hit by a vehicle.
- When you are using your charger the EV charging lead must remain on your property and must not create a trip hazard for you or anyone else.
- Our installers are not able to work in crawl spaces, on roofs or in lofts IF it is deemed unsafe by them.
- Our installers are not able to work in extreme weather (i.e. flooding or intense rain). If it is not safe to carry on, our expert will do as much as they can and we will return at a later date.
Your Existing Electrical Installation
EV Solutions carries out all installations following BS7671:2018 amendment 1 Electrical Regulations and the IET Code of Practice for Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment Installation. We are also full members of the NAPIT certification scheme.
It is important that your existing installation meets certain minimum standards. We will endeavour to identify any issues that will require improvement during the survey, however occasionally there are issues identified during installation that will require improvement or repair.
- If we can’t install in line with these rules then your installation will be paused and we will quote for the work needed to meet the required standards.
- If the existing electrical arrangements at the property are not in line with these rules or there is something else that makes it unsafe for us to install then we will quote for the work needed to meet the required standards.

I had solar panels installed by a leading north east company. They were unable to install a charger, claiming issues gaining approval from the grid supplier. Brendon sorted it no problem. Very happy with the install. Brendon may be lacking in the organisation department but he gets the job done.
